Chloé's Cyndi bag is the newest designer It-bag to hit stores. In luxurious leather and eye-popping papaya or slate gray, this oversized tote is the latest look for 2008.
After the huge success of the Chloé Paddington, along came the Chloé Bay and the Saskia. This fashion house has certainly proved their worth when it comes to producing designer bags that pack a punch.
The latest addtiion to the Chloé family represents a classic with a modern twist, slightly reminiscent in style of the Hermès Birkin.
The ChloéCyndi Tote
The new Chloé Cyndi tote is recognizable by its large silver hardware on handles, similar to mountain climbers clasps that are used on link them onto ropes. In contrast to the silver handles, the Cyndi has a chic gold colored clasp and plaque to fasten the inside compartment, and there are two practical open compartments on either side.
Net-a-Porter features an exclusive Cyndi bag, priced at £1,030, in an elegant neutral shade of slate gray, which is versatile for fall and winter. There is also a shiny black patent version, priced at £948, which is in keeping with the fashion industry’s current passion for patent.
If you are looking for something slightly smaller then Saks has a medium-sized Cyndi bag, in two tones. The gray leather with green trim proves a striking contrast, with the colorful trim emphasizing the silver hardware.
Other Chloé Designer It-Bags
The Cydi has some famous sisters – the Chloé Paddington and Bay bag. Such was the success of the Chloé Paddington in 2005, with its slouchy look and chunky padlock fastening that it initially evoked long waiting lists and a buying frenzy from fashionistas worldwide. According to Purseblog.com, the “Chloé Paddington was sold out before a single one had made it to the shelves.” Since 2006 there have been several updates on the bag and now the Paddington is more accessible.
The Chloé Bay bag followed in 2006, which garnered a great deal of celebrity exposure and proved to be a firm favorite of Britney Spears and Mischa Barton. The Bay bag has two distinctive leather pull tabs and comes in quilted leather, with a zip fastening at the top. Currently on sale at Net-A-Porter, the purple Bay bag, at £886, is in one of the most popular colors of the coming fall season.
Hot on its heels was the Chloé Saskia, released in February 2008. With its complex buckle detail, the design caused mixed reactions of love and hate, according to Purseblog. The Chloé Cyndi bag, however, with its mix of traditional and modern lines and contrasting gold and sliver hardware, is likely to be a firm hit for fall.
